Doesn’t Germany have some natural gas deposits, but refuses to approve fracking?

In November of 1944, an uncle of mine saw heavy fighting not far from the pits and generating station near Weisweiler. I think that complex was already back up and running before he made it back to the US.

Oh, those efficient Germans...
