Biden Cabinet member’s report of nearly zero assets spurs call for ethics audit (Amazing corruption)

“Last week, the completeness of Secretary Haaland’s (financial) disclosures were again called into question,” the Arkansas Republican said. “In addition to raising concerns about Secretary Haaland’s compliance with federal ethics standards, this complaint triggers additional questions about the operation of the Department of the Interior’s (DOI) Departmental Ethics Office (DEO).”

The disclosure form reported no assets over $5,000 from bank and investment accounts. The only asset listed was an annual per capita payment of $175 from her enrolled tribal membership in the Laguna of Pueblo. . .

Her disclosure form “indicated a net worth of $0,” said Protect the Public’s Trust.

I see a lot of irony in the basic concept that, if you have an income of $174,000 and assets worth (let’s say) $30M, people will shrug it off. Nothing to see here.

BUT, if you have an income of $174,000 and assets worth $0, people are quick to jump up and see something wrong. How come you ain’t rich? You must be corrupt.

But I do get it — the woman probably is rich but she filled out paperwork saying she isn’t. That’s wrong. I see it. But it’s just funny that the small assets are noteworthy and big assets are a yawn.

Then that house is an asset. Do they disclose personal residences on these financial forms?

Or are they concerned with cash assets, liquid assets only, in which case a house would be excluded?

I guess it depends on what the definition of an asset is in Liberal talk.

Deb Haaland is the First Native American Cabinet Secretary - history of fighting and opposing oil and gas exploration - halt new drilling, - reinstate wildlife conservation rules, - expand wind and solar power on public lands and waters, -and place the Interior Department at the center of Mr. Biden’s climate agenda.

Her job has been to reverse everything Trump opened up

She will have justified the statement by something like saying all of her assets are in a revocable trust or something like that. Promise you, she has a wiggle way around this. It may not be right but in her mind it is.

In 2021, her financial disclosure reported a net worth of zero dollars — a form submitted after marrying her longtime partner who reported assets between $970,000 and $2.125 million. In addition to those assets, the couple also has two residences including a $1 million New Mexico home.

“Under the circumstances, the absence of a bank account on her financial disclosure raises many questions,” the PPT press release on the complaint said. “What was happening to her paychecks?”

“Most employers, including federal employers, normally require direct deposit of employees’ wages,” the release continues. “Did DOI ethics officials notice this anomaly and question the Secretary about it? If her paychecks were being deposited in another type of account, would that not require that account to be reported?”

What bugs so many of us is that people with modest assets get elected to Congress and quickly become worth seven figures on that upper middle class Congressional salary.

So many in Bidens cabinet and administration are incompetent - of course they're there for “other” things.

Nope. Here is a link to the form: OGE Form 278e

Personal residences that were not rented out during the reporting period (annual) are not required to be disclosed.
