Russia has said its forces have destroyed two U.S.-made High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, also known as HIMARS, in Ukraine.
The number adds to the four HIMARS launchers that Russia claimed to have destroyed over a two-week period in July.
A "high-precision" strike in Kharkiv took out the systems and killed 53 people, Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov, a spokesperson for the Russian defense ministry, said in an announcement on Monday, according to Russian state news agency TASS.
"As a result of a high-precision strike in the city of Kharkiv, on the territory of the Ukrainian Energy Machines plant, two American launchers of HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems were destroyed," Konashenkov said. "53 Ukrainian nationalists and foreign mercenaries were also destroyed."

How would the Russians know for sure?
They might take photos from the sky, but the presumed dead might just be badly injured.
Sounds like they might be using radio emissions to lock in on locations. The Russians are good at radio direction finding.
The Russians must be mapping out the locations from Ukraine Regular command and control radio traffic. Is Ukraine using effective communication setups or off the shelf Baofeng radios?
The Russians can carpet bomb an area.
The Russians also try to track these launchers before they get to fire off another rocket.
Take all reports from Ukraine as suspect until verified.
The HIMARS system is having a serious effect on Russian ammunition supplies...

The Russians can bomb holes in all roads from a given area, trapping a MIMARS in an area.
Then they can zero in on a HIMARS and blow it to bits.
On video, I saw a Russian tank stop a himars. Some people might think that’s overkill. But, Russia must have thousands more tanks and tens of thousands more tank crew members.
