Here’s a list of some companies that had holdings or interests in Russia’s commodity and energy sectors at the start of Ukraine invasion:

Energy:
BP Plc
Shell Plc
TotalEnergies
Exxon
Fortum
OMV
Wintershall
Engie
Uniper
PetroChina
Cnooc
Sinopec
ONGC Videsh
Nayara Energy

Traders and Metals:
Rio Tinto
Gunvor
Trafigura
Vitol
Glencore
Sucden
Mitsui
Mitsubishi
SODECO

Big Agri:
ADM
Cargill
Louis Dreyfus
Bunge
Olam

Of course, if I were to identify the source of this list as Yahoo Finance, then some people would claim that the list is bogus as everything that Yahoo publishes is “nothing but lies”. Fortunately for me, this list did not come from Yahoo.

BP Plc, Shell Plc, and XOM have left Russia.

[… North America (including Canada and Mexico) that will continue to be the safe haven where people are going to want to invest their wealth.
Our current government is doing the best they can to screw it up but we may just have too much going for us over here to truly fail long-term.]

Love the optimism. I am so tired of reading all the ‘america sucks’ and on Freerepublic of all paces.

Thanks, I truly believe that we still have our best days ahead of us in the United States.

I'm old enough to remember the pessimism and malaise that permeated this country during the mid to late 1970s. America was said to be finished as a world power and even our president at the time (Jimmy Carter) was telling us that we needed to prepare ourselves for a lower standard of living!

If only I could go back to that time knowing what I know today. I'd be a billionaire right now.

So I am very bullish on our prospects over the next few decades. I firmly believe that Canada will start folding into the United States. It will likely start with Alberta and there will be a domino effect from there. Canada is still hugely untapped for the most part. But even here in the lower 48, we have immense resources that remain untapped.

As for Mexico, I know they are our favorite punching bag but their demographics are probably better than most of the world. They have a lot of younger people coming into their most productive years and they will serve not only as a huge labor pool for us as we move manufacturing out of Asia but an immense consumer base as well. I'm not sure they will ever become part of the United States as many of the Canadian provinces surely will, but they will play a major role in the success of North America, especially if they can overcome the dominance of the drug cartels and get some sort of national identity. At that point, the hordes of Mexicans trying to enter our country illegally may subside.

I am so bullish on North America that I recently told my financial consultant to wean my portfolio out of international funds entirely.

If you want to buy then trade FX. Otherwise look for a mutual fund specializing in the Eurasia Markets for the future.

Will Putin run out of the means and money to make 152mm rounds before the Ukes run out western support for 155Imm rounds?

Rejecting a story exclusively because of the source is called “the genetic fallacy”.

I agree with you that Yahoo is a terrible and left-slanted part of the MSM. But this story, that comes from behind the Fortune paywall, seems worth reading and considering based on its own merits and demerits. And it does seem to have stimulated an enlightening discussion.

So I think it is fair to warn about Yahoo, but not to simply ignore and dismiss all articles published there. I save ignore and dismiss for the January 6th committee, and all the propaganda it creates.

“ Will Putin run out of the means and money to make 152mm rounds before the Ukes run out western support for 155Imm rounds?”

Artillery shells left over from the old Soviet Union are among the last things that Russia is likely to run out of. They have mountains of them in storage, and they hold up better than almost any other type of Military gear in storage, even with poor maintenance.

Clearly, they can no longer use them with near impunity, like they were able to for a couple of months in the Donbas. The phase of overwhelming Russian Artillery supremacy is already over in this war - has been for about a month.

The Artillery balance is likely to continue to shift away from Russian advantage, As more Western gear and Western-trained Artillery assets keep arriving.

Russia will likely burn out their tubes, and lose their skilled gunners, long before running short of rounds.

Both the Russian and Ukrainian economies will likely be going into dire straits through this Winter as well.

Many, many other things will break before Russian 152mm stocks run dry.

Funny sort of currency that one can't buy at a currency exchange. And if I were to somehow miracle into possession of a batch of this miracle currency called the "Ruble" where could I spend it?

“Russian conquest of Ukraine is driven by this natural resources smash and grab.”

There are of course many factors, but I also think that was the prime driver.

The 2014 invasion and annexation of Crimea came just a couple of years after the discovery of big hydrocarbon deposits in its territorial waters.

Putin’s huge personal fortune (estimated over $200 billion before this war) mainly came from skimming oil and gas revenues.

- - - - - - -

My simple reason to expect econimic problems in the U.S. is

The U.S. has the most used currency. That allows it to print more money than anybody else before devaluing the currency. Nixon removed restrictions to print money. No one who has the power to print money doesn’t print as much as he can.

Do you think that might cause a problem some day?

"... are there still fools out there who actually believe what US corporate media is telling you about Russia and Ukraine?"

No me. I consider virtually all corporate news to be lies. I do give some credibility to the 'Redacted' and 'WION' YT channels.
