McDonald’s Cuts McPlant Burger from Menu After Trial Run

Fast-food company McDonald’s has decided following a trial run that it will pull the McPlant from the menu of some of its U.S. eateries for the time being, Fox 9 reported on August 1.

The McPlant is a plant-based burger co-developed with the company Beyond Meat, according to the McDonald’s website.

“It’s sizzled on a flat iron grill, then topped with slivered onions, tangy pickles, crisp shredded lettuce, Roma tomato slices, ketchup, mustard, mayo and a slice of melty American cheese on a toasted sesame seed bun. There are 510 calories in the McPlant,” the site read.

CNBC reported on July 28 that analyst research found “lackluster demand for the meatless burger.”

Lackluster demand? Shocking. Bill Gates isn't going to like this.

Good.

We for one and the wife, two, have stopped eating at McDees

Why — they reward cell phone and app users with 20% off everything.
Old timers like us DON’T WANT THE APP TRACKING. WE WILL NOT PAY 20% MORE.

We take our $$$ elsewhere.

McPlant dies on the vine.

Soylant pattie, smothered in soylant sauce
on a soylant bun.

The only thing surprising is that there isn’t a government
subsidy keeping it going...

They may be holding out for McCricket...

Meanwhile, I think Burger King still sells the Impossible Burger. I haven’t tried it yet. There are only two Burger Kings in my area. Both are in heavy traffic, twisty side road situations. I’d have to be in the right mood to go out of my way for one.

“McDonald’s Cuts McPlant Burger from Menu After Trial Run”

That fact that people don’t want this crap won’t stop this government from mandating it.

The purpose of the test run was to gauge how much ‘incentive’ is needed by the government to get people to eat this crap instead of beef.

before they closed the McDs by me I would sometimes get stuff there. I had wondered for years when they would “modernize” it as it still had big separate arches and had not been remodeled since at least the 70s.

I ate at another one (modern one) a few months later and after one bite I donated everything except Iced tea to the local birds.

(I can only hope the birds survived)

Maybe they can try bugburgers.

I am sure that would be another rousing fail.

The veggies and condiments to make it edible cost more than equivalent beef.

Thank God for B-Bop’s…

Yeah the plant based meat is failing. That’s ok, Cultured Meat is the coming thing. Will only be useful for chopped and formed type meats because they can’t duplicate muscle texture but it’ll work for hamburgers, chicken nuggets, patties. Future Meat has the cost of cultured chicken meat down to $1.70/lb and are selling in Singapore.

I'd rather starve than eat this garbage.

That sort of already exists. The McRib is an item 'formed' from a meat-slush.

Almost Meat is about to get their asses burned. Who wants to pay the price of a quarter pound of meat for a fist full of grass clippings that look like a hamburger. Almost Meat would have been better off to call them wimpy burgers and let you pay for them on Tuesday. I’ve yet to hear anyone but paid actors on TV say that they love the wimpy plant burgers.

If you like to eat meat, eat meat.
If you like to eat plants, eat plants.

Both real meat and real plants have beneficial nutrients.
What health benefits do you expect to get from a chemical sludge of imitation everything?
