Samantha Power’s statement that manure and compost could substitute for modern fertilizers shows her ignorance. 100 years ago manure and compost were the only fertilizers and crop yields were but a fraction of what is produced today. Ending or limiting the use of fertilizers could mean empty shelves at the grocery store, food rationing or famine.
