If you think the results from the 2022 primary election seem to be posting slower than in previous years, you’d be correct. County Auditor Greg Kimsey said there’s a good reason why.
Unlike most elections, when ballots tend to arrive in a steady stream throughout the two weeks prior to election day, most of the ballots for the Aug. 2 primary arrived on the last days of the election.
Of the 143,140 ballots received by Clark County Elections for the primary, 65 percent — 92,275 ballots in all — arrived on the day before, day of, or day after primary Election Day. According to the county website, 65,368 ballots came in on Aug. 2, with another 15,775 arriving on Aug. 1, while 11,132 arrived on Aug. 3.
That’s 46 percent of the ballots arriving on Election Day alone.
By comparison, Kimsey said, the last midterm primary election in 2018 saw only 49,000 ballots arrive at the elections office during the same three-day period.
Because of the state’s mail-in voting method, ballots can arrive as late as Aug. 15 — the day before the election certification — and be counted in the primary results as long as they are postmarked by Aug. 2.
Early on, Kimsey predicted a 40-45 percent turnout for the midterm primary. The voter turnout now stands at 40.79 percent, with 30,000 ballots left to count as of Monday.
“We can tabulate hundreds of thousands (of ballots) per day. But what’s necessary to do that is to verify signatures and inspect ballots. It’s the signature verification process which is the more time-consuming part of the process,” Kimsey said.
Kimsey said all returned ballots must be processed before they can be tabulated, which includes verification of the voter’s signature against the signature on record and a ballot inspection.

Did conservatives in Washington state do much the same as those in Arizona and wait until the last date to submit their ballots?
The theory is that the left and GOPe will not know how many ballots they need to manufacture nor who on the registered voters list they can cast a ballot for if you wait until the last few days to submit your ballot. And also, apparently conservative ballot-counting observers out-numbered those on the left by a large number. This reduces their opportunity to cheat when counting votes.
This is why mail in ballots were never used except for special purposes. As well, how many are last minute fake ballots?

I’ve seen similar comments from others that did the same. In Arizona, many conservatives requested mail-in ballots, then delivered them in person on Election Day. That really had to confuse the vote counters who were keeping up with who had and had not voted, and were hoping to cast their ballot for them.

Time-consuming??? I don’t see how it could be any more simple for Democrat vote-counters:
If it’s a Democrat voter: signature is always valid no matter HOW many ballots that exact same signature appears on.
If it’s a Republican voter (for example, Joe Kent himself): signature is invalid unless (and maybe even if) the voter jumps through 1,000 hoops to verify it. And does so before the deadline. And does so even though that voter isn’t even informed that there is a supposed “problem” with his ballot. And that’s presuming the Democrat Postal Workers Union allowed the ballot to be returned in the first place.
Is ballot harvesting legal in the state - as it is in California?
The delay gives the harvesters time to go in and collect any missing ballots - such as those coming from nursing homes for dementia patients.

Oregon recently changed the law to accept all mail-in votes that have an election day postmark, even if they trickle in weeks later.
Apparently, yes.
They are still counting in AZ. The late votes are definitely breaking for conservatives.
In the election day, the ballots were like 80% republican and so were the ballots dropped in the last few days.
This is a trend in AZ for several elections. The conservatives vote after the Dems and independents. The spread is getting larger every election.
This trend is explained by the fact that conservatives do not trust the system, so they prefer the in person and last day vote.

Precisely what I was thinking.
I was sitting on the fence deciding if I’d cast my vote for Kent. It was the lesser of evils.
