This crappy poll notwithstanding, you’re very likely right. Gimenez has over $1,000,000 to campaign with, his opponents (including his Democrat opponent in November) have none at all, and as far as the primary goes there are two candidates all set to split the conservative vote.
As to the Democrats conceding and putting up some unfunded nobody as a challenger — why not? Why should Democrats seriously contest a district in which the incumbent Republican votes more with the Democrats than he does with his own party, especially on key issues? Democrat money, not that there’s seemingly any limit to it, is better spent elsewhere.
