I’m in California, and I’m acquainted with a fair number of immigrants from India. I can attest to the truth of your comment. It’s not imaginary. Many if not most of them have imported their “caste” crap into this country. People knock the English for their class-ism, but they’re pikers compared to the Indians I’ve met.
The kicker here is that this person was born in the U.K. and their first address was a counsel housing unit. The father worked his way into a position here in America at a place we all want to get out of our Country. This person went to the private school for that entity and then an Ivy League thanks to Dad's connections. They had the nerve to explain to me why our electoral college should be abolished!
After marrying a higher up at a well-known Corporation, the new spouse demanded they visit India so they could meet the family. The horror! The snobby Indian described their pure disgust at having to pass all the “dirty poor people” in the street every time they left the Hotel. Needless to say, I no longer have anything to do with this person.
