I moved to a different town about 3 years ago, some American were flags being flown, but not in my immediate area.
Since I started flying mine, two close-by neighbors are now flying them as well.

Way back in 1970, I had a professor who objected to California's state flag, which is based on the "Bear Flag" of the short-lived California Republic. He claimed that the flag is "racist," and it is said that because of his objections, it was never flown over the campus (and still isn't). This professor was a renowned historian who had published several books on California history.
I'm surprised that woke leftists still haven't taken aim at our state flag--and I hope no wokesters are reading this post, lest they get ideas.
