I can wrack my brain for hours, and I couldn’t imagine a scenario where Donald Trump is President of the United States and would waste even five seconds of his life in a stupid meeting with a bunch of losers like “presidential historians.”
Then those “historians” have no better knowledge of history than the average democrat.

Well, a huge part of the problem is that they view anyone who opposes leftism as a fascist whose opinions should be suppressed.
I agree. The Russia Hoax was the single most corrosive event to our democracy.
The historians invited seem to have represented a narrow range of left-wing historians. Sean Wilentz was a "red diaper baby" if I'm not mistaken. Michael Beschloss was involved in that recent conversation with the former head of the CIA salivating about the possibility of Donald Trump being sent to the electric chair. Allida Black is an expert on Eleanor Roosevelt and publisher of Eleanor Roosevelt's papers.
The latest poll of US Presidents by academic historians put Trump at #41 (tied with Franklin Pierce and with only Andrew Johnson and James Buchanan ranked lower)--which tells you more about the historians polled than it does about President Trump. But of course you would not expect Biden to invite any historians not known to be Trump-haters.
Victor Davis Hanson is not a specialist on American history so it would not be surprising that he would not be invited. He is an ancient historian by training.
Sounds like an echo chamber or a party Congress.

the latter, because this WaPo article is a typical “appeal to authority” article. It’s not Biden warning of those evil Republicans and that Fascist Trump putting “our democracy” (i.e. Dem control) at risk, it’s these experts in history saying it. Sort of like those security experts who said the Hunter Biden laptop was Russia disinformation.
You overestimate the desire and the innate cognitive ability of people like my SIL who watches Nicolle WallAss and supposedly retains the ability to think critically.
I would be interested in knowing how many of these so-called historians are democrat vs conservative republicans? If I were a betting man ....
