They've backed Trump into a corner by basically declaring that they--the Deep State--will remove any candidate from the presidential ballot not to their liking (in this case, Trump).

From an article posted here at FR by me yesterday:

Trump and every one of his supporters knows he--being the prime target of the Deep State--is the natural leader of this effort.

If he refuses to accept the position, he will be writing his own epitaph..."quitter."

Knowing what we know about Trump, I don't think he could bear that.

And this is how the Deep State has put his back up against a wall.

IMO, the 8/8 raid was done to stampede Trump into announcing early. That way, they could run against him instead of the individual house/senate opponents. It would nationalize the mid-terms, and the Dems think that’s to their advantage.
