It is highly unlikely that the Ukraine will ever regain the former Russian territory that in 1922 Vladimir Ilʹich Lenin, for whatever reason, gave to Ukraine and that Russia is currently taking back.

And here you know that this is pure propaganda. Lenin did not "give" this territory to Ukraine. It was a part of Ukraine when it declared independence in 1917 and was recognized as such by the Bolsheviks in the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk in 1918. These territories have a majority Ukrainian population. The only exception is Crimea, which has a majority Russian population and was transferred to Ukraine by Khrushchev in 1954.

Kind of destroys the argument that Putin longs for a return to the “glory” days of the USSR.
