I’m single and looking. What I find on some dating sites are LOTS of cheating married/in a relationship women who are looking for a f-buddy to give them what they don’t get at home.
None for me, thanks. I’ll pass. Those girls are definitely bad for my karma.
I see it as boiling down to basic biology. Think of it in David Attenborough terms.
Importantly, biological imperatives can often “misfire”, turning into aberrant behavior.
For example, females are *compelled* to “display” to attract partners. But taken to an extreme they become “attention whores”, and display inappropriate amounts of skin and sexual behavior. It is very competitive, and even at younger ages, girls will wear eye catching clothing, or the lack thereof, infuriating both their parents and school teachers and administrators.
Sometimes it carries over into adulthood and migration to the “sex industry”, the females having become “addicted to attention”.
Males are *supposed* to pay attention to displays by females, but often end up acting like zoo monkeys. This creates consternation because younger females do not know what is supposed to happen when males *are* attracted to them.
Moving on, males have a prerogative to “spread their seed” to different females. But females have a double prerogative to get both the best DNA for their offspring, and get support from the best “provider” male. Trouble is, when there are many males, often the DNA donor and the provider are not the same male. Thus cheating.
Humans came up with the brilliant innovation of socially enforced marriage to get around this problem. This meant that a married couple were off-limits to interlopers under penalty of law and custom. It was the best solution for women, for men, and especially for their children.
However, with the anti-marriage philosophy, the collapse of marriage turned into a disastrous nightmare. Statistically children raised by one parent are much more likely to end up in prison than those raised by a couple.

Often it’s co-workers. Or it used to be.
Back in the 90’s I put a very high gain antenna on my police scanner and in those days cordless phones were not scrambled. It was amazing how often I heard affairs being discussed with relatively similar circumstances.
Cheating with co-workers is a matter of convenience if she is dis-satisfied with her relationship at home. Co-workers are not ideal due to the drama, but at least he is not some skeevy and completely unknown pickup at a bar. Very often he is less than ideal and not even her choice, but he is sweet on her at work and she yeilds when the time is right.
Often, a “good girl” is just a bad girl who hasn’t been caught.
Women like the exciting “bad boys”. Unfortunately, bad boys do not make good husband material.
So the woman gets a stable “good (boring) guy” to marry and pay the bills, while continuing to have affairs with exciting guys (at least until she ages past the point where they lose interest in her).
Topics like these make me miss the old Chateau Hartiste site.

I think woman are having more affairs then men. Work provides them more opportunities then men.

She knows the co-worker. They chat and they flirt. So they hit it off. They develop an emotional connection. You're right. It's not ideal due to the drama. And you can't just cut it off because you run into the person every day.
Women cheat more (if that’s even true) because it’s easier for them to get laid. A guy still has to put in SOME effort to have sex.
It takes two to tango.
I am guessing that 5 or 10% of women cheat more than men, and someone wrote an article pretending that most women are like that.

More men are avoiding marriage for that reason.
