Plans are under way for Boris Johnson to be joined by Rishi Sunak or Liz Truss and travel to see the Queen, 96, in Scotland on September 6 in what would be a historic first

The Queen, who is on a ten-week holiday at the 50,000-acre Balmoral estate, has had occasional mobility problems for almost a year and spent a night in hospital last October

A decision on where the constitutional ceremony — known as “kissing hands” — takes place will be announced next week

A source said “There are some parts of her role that Prince Charles can do on her behalf but the Queen is adamant that she appoints the prime minister"

I’m currently binge-watching, ‘The Crown’ and I’m loving it. Very dramatic. Downton Abbey-like.

It’s going to be interesting, in Real Life, watching Charles eventually muck things up!

There is an outside chance that his Mama could outlive him, which is what I’m rooting for. The second best scenario would be for him to have a reign as short as the queen’s uncle.

..... watching Charles eventually muck things up!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Reminds me of what Obama said about FJB .... never underestimate Joe’s ability to **ck things up.

I have no doubt Charles will ‘muck’.

Should disqualify any Muzzie from taking this path to PM.

No monarch makes the path easier.

I think it’s hilarious to see Charles with his hand in his suit coat pocket...To me, that’s a ridiculous look...

I don’t think Charles will be king long. It will be similar to Edward the 7th. Victoria died in 1901, Edward died in 1910.

And seemingly very real and truthful

The British monarchy is truly fascinating, but its current iteration is a useless tradition.

Just finished Dan Jones’ fantastic series on the British Royal history — The Plantagenets and The War of the Roses. Royalty in the older days was much more akin to Game of Thrones, where almost inevitably, kings died either in battle, were murdered, or beheaded. The last of these were perhaps Edward VI in 1552, but most assuredly was Richard III in 1485. In that period, Meghan would have been placed in The Tower of London to await her execution.

Today’s royals are mere zoo animals. Interesting to watch, and in need of feeding and caring until they die of old age…

Those parts have to do with knickers and tampons.

The bread and circus aspect of America has never been more potent. People ask why Dems will not pay the price for the worst inflation in 40 years, and this is the main reason. In 1980, people did not have binge-watching on Netflix and Ubercart/Lyft/Doordash for side hustles. All that takes away the sting of the economic problems, and will ensure Biden’s mid-term results are much better than his predecessors’.

I liked the Tudors myself; things have never been the same since everyone switched to sedans.

Confusing - appointed or elected? What a conglomeration - glad we won the Revolutionary War....

Our system USED to be ok but perhaps we need another revolution....

Sounds great. Is it family-safe? I loved Downton Abbey.
