Had thatnhappen to,some women while,they were out hiking not too far from where I live.a small black Bear followed them all the way back to their car, and according to one of the woman got close enough that she had to “swat the bear away”, but who knows if she was telling the truth abput swatting at the bear or not.

exactly ... there's always a lot of details that aren't reported, and you have to figure them out

humans aren't bears' natural food, 99% of the time they will avoid you ... UNLESS you provoke them with strong-smelling food, trying to get too close to get that perfect picture*, etc.

this guy could have worn some kind of metallic noisemaker ("bear bell") and the bear would have run away long befoire any encounter ... what a waste

(* I've actually seen tourists try to get within 30 feet of a grizzly, just so they could get a good photo ... one swipe of that giant paw and they would have been torn to shreds on the spot)
