Don’t you know, in many cities they’re enrolling thousands of illegal immigrants and Afghanistan so- called refugees. OF which most won’t be paying any taxes that go toward funding public education.

Good. Reforming America’s public-school system is impossible.

This is what happens when school libraries stock pornographic literature & teachers take kids to drag shows.

Many parents just don’t appreciate high culture.

The general idea is not suprising, and likely legit.

But this report does not back up its stated title.

Using only a few anecdotal examples does not provide a “nationwide” report.

They should have done more homework.

The government school system is all about self-perpetuation, ever-increasing funding, and brainwashing. Little thought is given to the best interests of the students.

Between private schools, cyberschools and homeschooling, there are better ways to educate and parents should actively choose one of those rather than free government daycare/brainwashing.

I don’t know all the ins and outs of school financing, but, is part of this that, teachers could be laid off, if there are fewer students in the schools? Is the concern that teachers could lose their jobs?

Yes. This is why teacher's union are always pushing for reduced class sizes. 100 students at a class size of 20 students is 5 teachers. With a mandated class size of 10 students it would be 10 teaches, effectively doubling the dues received by the union.

The budget for teacher salaries is usually based on ADA (Average Daily Attendance). This means that if there are less students, there is less budget to pay teachers and the class size mandates can be met with fewer teachers.

A large percentage of the adverse changes to schools results from parental pressure. They sue when their child doesn’t pass or get the desired grade.

I don’t discount that happens, but the overwhelming cause of our school problems is caused by Federal money and the strings that go with.

The schools get paid by the Feds per-head in daily attendance.

Take out a chunka kids and it does indeed create a fiscal crisis. Pity.

That wasn’t my experience; however, the Federal strings were indeed damaging.

That's certainly the flipside of what's going on. Teachers are quitting the public schools and few are coming in to fill the voids. Seems it's so bad in my state the governor has formed a task force to try and find solutions to stall if not reverse it.
