Here’s a novel idea; don’t want to be tracked? Don’t carry a cell phone. I don’t own one and I get along just fine as I have for decades!
“I don’t own one and I get along just fine as I have for decades!”
I own one and is great addition to my life!
About 15 years ago I started out on a Sunday to my jobsite about 250 mikes away and got a call from my wife saying her mother had a heart attack and was not expected to live.
Me cellphone gave me the route to the hospital and I was there in 30 minutes. Without the cellphone I would have been 250 miles and hours away before I knew.
“Don’t carry a cell phone. I don’t own one and I get along just fine as I have for decades!”
When I in a store shopping I use the phone to compare prices and check reviews.
Sometimes I find items and snap a photo if the display and come home and research.
If I see something the wife might like, I will text a photo to her on the spot. I do this also if I need to check an item on her list but not sure of specifics.
“Don’t carry a cell phone. I don’t own one and I get along just fine as I have for decades!”
Ever get separated from your wife while shopping?
A quick text solves that.
At outdoor malls I can track which store she is in.
When I drop her off and wait in the car, I can see on the phone when she comes out of the store or she can text me when she is ready for pickup.
I can research the www or play games while waiting!

My brother is not very good with navigating in strange areas. When he first came to visit me at my new home, I used an app to monitor his movements and give him turn-by-turn real time directions.
He had to evacuate from a hurricane in 2018. He headed to my house but was exhausted. We told him we would meet him and the wife and I headed oout.
We were halfway to him when he called said he had to pull over.
Cellphones saved us several hours.
>>Don’t carry a cell phone.
Alternatively, when you don’t want to be tracked, put your cellphone in a Faraday bag.
“Don’t carry a cell phone. I don’t own one and I get along just fine as I have for decades!”. One day I was out and my car battery died. Called my insurance company for a jump and called my wife to let her know I would be late.
Towing company texted me ETA 45 minutes.
Do I wait 45 or wait 30 minutes for wife to bring cables?
Problem solves. Good Samaritan gives me a jump, I call and cancel tow service and call wife saying I will be home in ten.
” Don’t carry a cell phone. I don’t own one and I get along just fine as I have for decades!”
If I am expecting an important call I don’t have to hang around waiting for it. My phone goes with me!
Last week I had an item for sale on craigslist. Wile I wad out I got a call from a guy saying he would be in the area about 4 PM. I was able to get home by then and sold the item!
Without the cellphone I might have missed the sale.

I remember the old days. Drive for miles looking for a phone booth only to find the book missing or phone not working or not enough change to make the operator assisted call.
Try even finding a phone booth now!

You are five miles from nowhere and are alone and get hurt.
I call 911. What do you do?
If you haven’t carried one for decades, then you probably never carried one. I only got my first in 2001.
Why did I get one? Because I was on the road and needed to get ahold of someone and there were no payphones to be found. The culture has shifted to cell phones and landlines are disappearing.
I am guessing you are retired. Professionally I have been expected to be on-call 24/7 as a condition of employment for most of the last 2 decades. Businesses everywhere cannot succeed without convenient, instant communication. It is a pain, but it is the world we live in.
If you don’t have to carry one, good for you. But as a society we still need to work out the implications of these devices because not having one is not an option for the vast majority.
” Don’t carry a cell phone. I don’t own one and I get along just fine as I have for decades!”
I used the phone to get price-matching at stores. Money saved.
” Don’t carry a cell phone. I don’t own one and I get along just fine as I have for decades!”
I stream music to my car stereo.
” Don’t carry a cell phone. I don’t own one and I get along just fine as I have for decades!”.
Sometimes after I leave the house I wonder did I close the garage door.
I grab my phone and check. If I did leave it open I can close it from my phone.
” I don’t own one and I get along just fine as I have for decades!”
I can watch TV or stream sporting events while waiting for wife to finish shopping
Or check the stock market if really bored
I can access my accounts when I am away without worrying about using a third party wifi
