Maggie Thatcher had it right:

"Socialism works just fine until you run out of other people's money to spend."

“Is this student loan forgiveness plan of Biden’s implemented by executive order?
It’s not a bill that has to be passed by Congress, is it? If it’s not a bill that has to be passed by Congress, is it legally valid given that Congress has to approve the budget?”

Please list any and all instances where Beijing Biden has shown any inclination to follow the letter of the Law or the Constitution.

I’ll wait.

And just where did I claim that Biden DID follow the letter of the law or the Constitution?

Those inhabitants of this continent who are cheering this fiasco belong in an asylum. A government that steals from the workers and gives to the freeloaders and illegal alien foreigners. What a crock. All because of mail in banana ballots.

Basically, if you get a fine arts degree that only requires monthly payment of no more than 5% of discretionary income and writes off the balance after 10 years, you really never have to pay the loan back while you work the fryer at McDonalds. Engineering grads will end up paying back the loan. This is a political payoff to liberal arts colleges, whose professors and graduating students are the core of the Dem party

BTW, if Biden's student loan forgiveness plan is being implemented by executive order, that is within the law.

It's just that Congress can use legislative action – such as cutting off funding – to render the president’s intentions worthless.

And a new president may overturn a predecessor’s order by issuing another executive order effectively canceling it.

And, under a new president, Congress can pass a bill that destroys what's in an executive order and send it to the new president.

Five per cent of “discretionary income.”

Clear as mud.

I read they are using an old 2003 law that states in a National Emergency (Biden still has us in a covid state of emergency), The Secretary of Education may do anything he wants basically. Such as forgive debt.

Similar to when states were declaring an emergency, allowed Secretary of States to handle elections the way they see fit.

States and Feds need to stop giving heads of agencies the freedom to disregard the laws during a declared emergency.

worse, nothing says you have to PASS the class or graduate!

so you don’t even need to show up for class! simply sign up for classes, borrow the money and then never show up and never pay it back !

ain’t communism grand!

The first part of the plan (the immediate forgiveness) based its legality on a 2003 law called the HEROES act which stated in times of war or national emergency the Secretary of education can modify the loans. Trump (DeVos) relied on it to pause the interest and payments starting in March 2020. But devos’ OGC determined it couldn’t be used for outright cancellations. Then Cardona’s OGC together with Justice’s OGC determined it could.

The second part of the plan is a proposal only. It’s part of normal negotiated rule making of department of education regs. There will be 30 days only open for public comments.

You didn’t.

My point is that there is not a law or a Constitutional limit on his authority that Beijing Biden will adhere to. No more complicated than that.

I’ve read of many that take students loans on a continuous basis, as repayment is deferred until they complete their “education”.

It’s a government-backed scam.

I was told by somebody who started to apply online didn’t get too far because they worked for a for profit corporation. This looks like a bait and switch vote buying scheme.
