Liz Truss will be the new UK prime minister after defeating Rishi Sunak in the Tory leadership contest
It was a closer result than many pundits expected, with Truss taking 57% of valid votes cast

I have the feeling that becoming the PM of the UK as a Tory is like being named the Captain of the Titanic, one hour before it hits the iceberg and sinks.
Given the absolute mess in the UK, unless Liz Truss is a miracle worker, the Tory Party is going to get destroyed in the next general election, ushering in the Labor Party who will take the UK in a direction that can barely be recognized.

My UK friends call their deep state “The civil service”. Which is the same as ours. The permanent beauracracy.

On Tuesday, both Mr Johnson and Ms Truss will travel 500 miles to the Queen’s residence in Scotland for their audience with the monarch, making the trip separately for security reasons. Mr Johnson is expected to fly up in the morning, after delivering a final address as PM outside No 10 at 8.30am, and is scheduled to arrive at Balmoral around 11.00am. He will offer the monarch his formal resignation and Ms Truss, his successor, will then meet with the Queen shortly afterwards, around midday.
