Governor Gavin Newsom and the state’s legislative Democrats just gave a whopper of a gift to the SEIU labor union – Gov. Gavin Newsom just signed Assembly Bill 257 by Assemblyman Chris Holden (D-Los Angeles), to unionize the state’s 556,000 fast-food workers fast food workers.
To gin up the SEIU’s latest union-member recruitment, fast food workers have been protesting wages, hours and safety at the State Capitol.
California is about to become the first state in the country to unionize fast food employees by expanding state government to create a new Fast Food Council within the Department of Industrial Relations to set minimum health, safety and employment standards across the California fast food industry – even though every business in California operates under health, safety and employment standards set by state and local laws.

As long as joining isn’t mandatory, I don’t see this as an issue. it’s freedom of association.
Fast food business is going out of business fast.
Thought it was mandatory. Some of my friends who were in some jobs even if they don’t join the union they have to pay the dues anyway.
Just wait for the exodus of all these fast food chains out of the state.
Much easier...
I had my first quarter pounder in about 2 years the other day. It cost $6.09 for just the burger and they couldn’t even put it on the bun straight! Most of the FF workers are moronic teenagers who don’t GAF. They don’t need $15/hr and a union for the pathetic job they do flipping burgers.
Usually, most of the FF workers are teenagers and it's their first time at a job. Others may be immigrants or folks who are holding a part time job earning a little extra money. It's not meant to earn a career. It's a great stepping stone usually. If you have potential with the company, they'll make you a manager and you'll make more money and benefits.
What possibly could go wrong?
What could possibly go wrong??
More insanity. Waitresses next?
FF is already critically over priced. Last time I attempted to buy McDonald’s for breakfast it cost 6.50 for a sausage biscuit egg and cheese. I heard the total for one sandwich and I drove off. Absurd.
If you want to destroy fast-food just unionize it ,LOL
Cali continues to go downhill
Time to buy stock in food robot companies.....
People are addicted to eating this garbage, they’re not going anywhere. May see higher prices and/or more automated checkers. But this garbage food isn’t going anywhere.
Start closing down a few In-n-Out shops over the union mandates and we’ll see who has more political clout.
Not gonna go over well with those who regularly dine at Mickey Ds.
On the other hand all those rat voters may stand to lose a few pounds.
The local taquerias and other fast food establishments owned by recent immigrants will do a work around through human trafficking
I worked for a union in the grocery business for 7 years, I recently moved and am working for a NON union business, I received an annual raise from the union of 10 cents an hour annually, I just received an annual raise of $1.00 per hour from a non union business!! People who push for unions are complete idiots, unions PROTECT non producers, then the producers have to work harder to cover the shifts the non producers don’t show up for!! Unions are USELESS they take dues from your pay to give to democrats!! The company I work for is FAR ABOVE a union because they do NOT want the union vulchers circling their businesses!!
