An FBI whistleblower has told the House Judiciary Committee that he witnessed the bureau’s deputy director violating security policies and putting classified information at risk.
The special agent told lawmakers that Paul Abbate, who oversees all FBI domestic and international investigative and intelligence activities, used his smartphone in an FBI sensitive compartmented information facility, or SCIF, which is a violation of bureau security protocols.
Just bringing a phone into the SCIF is a security breach.
The senior agent accused Mr. Abbate of walking around in the SCIF while talking on the smartphone and sending text messages and emails.
Another FBI whistleblower said senior FBI officials routinely break the no-cellphone rule in SCIFs.
The Washington Times viewed a letter the whistleblowers’ attorney sent to Judiciary Committee Republicans that described the accusations against Mr. Abbate. It is part of a flood of FBI whistleblower complaints about politicized investigations and misconduct at the bureau. This time, the subject of the complaint is in the top tier of FBI leadership.
The FBI bristled when asked about the whistleblowers’ accusations. “This reporting is categorically false,” the FBI said in a statement to The Times.

Too dumb to have clearances.
It absolutely a security violation to bring any device that can transmit into a SCIF.
This also appears to be intentional and repeated.
Sure would be interesting to see what the Table of Penalties says.
Yep...if true there should have been a filed report. If there was a report and it disappeared, it’s Leavenworth time (or should be)!
Time for a sternly worded letter.
Actually a cellphone should not work in a SCIF. At least a well designed one.
They are shielded all around with metal to avoid any sort of electromagnetic surveillance. Classified equipment is tested in SCIFs. Their has to be some level of protection from snoopers.
Maybe they're' members of democrat pet victim groups - or they're sexual weirdos... Washington doesn't hire based on best and brightest - they hire on WOKE 'diversity'...
Pray for more whistle blowers. May God protect them and may the truth be known!
Does that prevent cell phones from taking pictures with their integral cameras?
That would be a shield room, not a SCIF, per se.
They are perverts of one kind or another.
The FBI adheres to policies strictly, except when it’s their senior level managers.
If a nug in the trenches pulls half the shit their top executive do, they would get FIRED, and they would not get their retirement restored.
What ever happened to Comey who publicly admitted to leaking derogatory information to the press?
Meanwhile the low level peons get 30 days without pay or even lose their job for merely running a database query on someone that was unauthorized, say someone they want to use as a babysitter.
The FBI has become political. You can forget them. Their image has been destroyed not by some agent or Intel analyst, rather their top executives and mid level managers. The top of the organization is political and uses their power to favor the chosen ideology/party. Their mid level managers are mercenary, canabal, willing to do anything to make the top happy. If you gave them an order to confiscate all private firearms, they would. If you tell them to load folks on trains to Auschwitz, they would. In the meantime they will talk about making the tough choices, hard conversations, candor, integrity, bla bla bla. Wray doesn’t get that and appears impotent to deal with this organizations true issues, that is if he’s actually not part of it.
The concern is not just live transmission or eavesdropping, it's also that such a mobile phone can record conversations to be picked up later, whether via transmission or manual handoff.
It should not be a surprise to find that these hotshots disregard the rules at will. And lie about it when confronted.
That would be a shield room, not a SCIF, per se.

You are probably referring to what I called a Screen Room. That’s what we used for High Power RF testing. The purpose was to avoid accidental exposure to high levels of electromagnetic energy if the setup leaked radiation. That didn’t really happen but it was a reasonable precaution.
And yes, that is different from a SCIF. I am working from memory but I’m pretty sure the SCIFs I worked in were shielded. I really don’t know how they did it but I assumed they used something like the Screen Room mesh embedded in the walls and ceiling.
I could be wrong but that is my recollection.

Nope.
The concern is not just live transmission or eavesdropping, it’s also that such a mobile phone can record conversations to be picked up later, whether via transmission or manual handoff.

For sure. It was an obvious and flagrant violation of the security rules.
Don’t be naive, they are not that stupid, they were all paid a handsome price to take their spyware loaded phones in there
