I just listened to debates in the German Bundestag, in which both the “Right” and official “Left” spoke out against the idiocy of Germany's current international politics. What I found jaw-dropping was that the Leftist actually called a “MAGA” for Germany a good idea. Make Germany great again. Aside from the jokes one could make, what both women — Wagenknecht and Weidel — demanded was that the energy policy for Germany MUST serve Germany and German people. Here we had American energy independence at the end of the Trump administration, which the Democrats immediately overhthrew, such that we again are dependent on energy imports all the while — illogically — we send reserves to China. MAGA is called for, to be sure. There as here.

Biden swore an oath to the Constitution of the United States and to defend it against all enemies, foreign and domestic. That is his first job. Biden is the President of the United States. He has an obligation to stand up and speak out against insurrectionists and seditionists; enemies of the United States and its Constitution. He did just that.

Biden said, “MAGA forces are determined to take this country backwards, backwards to an America where there is no right to choose, no right to privacy, no right to contraception, no right to marry who you love. They promote authoritarian leaders, and they fanned the flames of political violence that are a threat to our personal rights, to the pursuit of justice, to the rule of law, to the very soul of this country.

“They tried everything last time to nullify the votes of 81 million people. This time, they’re determined to succeed in thwarting the will of the people. That’s why respected conservatives like Federal Circuit Court Judge Michael Luttig has called Trump and the extreme MAGA Republicans ‘a clear and present danger’ to our democracy.

To paraphrase Harry Truman, Biden spoke the truth and for the enemies of the United States and our Constitution, it apparently feels like hell. It’s about time Biden spoke out.
