Russia Gives Up on Rebuilding Bridges Destroyed by Ukraine: 'No Point'
Newsweek ^ | September 6, 2022 | ISABEL VAN BRUGEN

Russia has given up on rebuilding bridges destroyed by Ukraine in the Kherson counteroffensive, a Kremlin-installed leader of the occupied southern region said on Tuesday.

Kirill Stremousov, deputy head of the Russian-appointed military-civilian regional administration, told Russian state-owned news agency Tass that it does not make sense for Russia to restore the Antonovsky Bridge, which has been targeted for weeks by Ukraine.

"So far, no one is restoring the Antonovsky Bridge, because there is no point, there is no expediency," he said.

Stremousov said that the key bridge, as well as a bridge in Nova Kakhovka, are completely closed at the moment as a result of damage caused by Ukrainian shelling.

"As we said, we are not very interested in bridges, we have our own crossings, this does not affect the course of the special military operation in any way," he said.

“As we said, we are not very interested in bridges...”

Good. Then the scumbag Russians won’t mind when Ukraine demolishes the Kerch Strait Bridge.

Because there’s no way that thing will be allowed to stand as the Ukrainians reclaim Crimea.

Antonovsky Bridge was reportedly blown up in May 2022.

They are good enough for their soldiers to evacuate on foot.

"So far, no one is restoring the Antonovsky Bridge, because there is no point, there is no expediency," he said.

My lie to reality translator is giving me two results:

A) We're not rebuilding the bridge because we don't have the ability to do it.
B) We're afraid that if we rebuild it the Ukes will use it to invade us!

Once Ukrainians take over Kherson, they can cut off all the water to Crimea.

Laugh all you want. Russia has been forced to evacuate their airfields in Crimea and they’ve had to emplace AA around the Kerch Strait Bridge. The Ukies have killed people in the Russian Navy HQ in Sevastopol, too.

No one saw that coming even a month ago and now Crimea is a battlefield.

About 300,000 Russian vacationers were forced to flee when their ‘safe’ vacation spot was suddenly beset by missile attacks.

So yes, laugh all you want. Crimea is in play right now and sooner or later the Ukies will be back and Russia will be permanently evicted.

It's really funny that you mentioned that...

It does not take much to read between the lines here. Russia is not repairing the Antonovsky and Nova Kakhovka bridges. Wbich means, Russia is giving on on repairing all the bridges to Kherson. Which means the logistcs of Russian forces in Kherson is severly restricted and their supplies are running out.

As important is the fact that Ukraine would counter attack in Kherson was a open secret. Russia saw this coming for months and did not create any counter response. This is a big sign that Russia's ability to prosecute the war is detiorating.

I would think that the two smaller pillars to the right would be easier to blow up. Of, course blowing up the larger one would be harder to repair.

“This is a big sign that Russia’s ability to prosecute the war is deteriorating.”

OH YEAH? Well Russia is going to get 100,000 starving soldiers from North Korea any day now!!! And their closest ally China is sending thousands of fighters and tanks to help Russia conquer Ukraine!!!

Any day now.

Yup, any day now Russia’s friends will be right there to help them.

Mighty Russia needs help from North Korea and China.

“Mighty Russia” is a pathetic joke.

That's only one photo

My guess is that boat carries enough HE to blow up most of the support pillars.

About 300,000 Russian vacationers were forced to flee when their ‘safe’ vacation spot was suddenly beset by missile attacks.

Roughly translates as something like: "Mama Mia* We've got to get out of here!"

* I think it's a fond diminutive of mom, something like mamacita literally "little mother" in Spanish.
