Well, maybe this pushy tribe of obnoxious winers* will again do some good. The crosswalk curb cutdowns were great, thank you, and the overabundance of handicapped parking spaces, but other than that it’s been a long dry spell.
*That’s a quote from my best friend, the now deceased dean of admissions of a Florida college. Sam (may he continue to R.I.P.) was one of the last reported cases of polio in Michigan before the Salk vaccine took effect. Paraplegic, lotsa muscle weakness, ventilator in his last decade of life, etc. He refused to ever sit in a wheelchair; had a wheeled scooter instead. “Just because I’m fu**ed up doesn’t mean I can be an ass about it.” (-: Gone nearly 30 years now. Boy, do I miss him.

Those that are legitimately physically
challenged may not have the mindset of
your friend who had every opportunity
to take advantage of what ADA has to
offer.
I can bet a dollar to a donut that you
suffer no such maladies.
Sure, there are those that abuse the
system, but those that suffer pain or
loss of mobility need access to facilities
that require shorter distances of
gaining that access.
I’m paralyzed on one side from an accident
that occurred some time ago. Time has
taken its’ toll, as I now have sciatica
due to over compensation for the paralysis.
Stuck on the couch for three days and
pi**in in a bottle during an attack.
A hundred yard walk places me in that
situation.
Please be mindful of those that really
need those overabundance of handicapped
parking spaces.
