The comments were issued Wednesday amid an ongoing Ukrainian counteroffensive in the south and east which both Kiev and Washington say has so far had “success”.
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Gen. Valery Zaluzhny stated “There is a direct threat of the use, under certain circumstances, of tactical nuclear weapons by the Russian armed forces.” He wrote this in an op-ed published by state run outlet Ukrinform, with the alarming words being picked up by The Washington Post and others.

Well since Ukraine does not have nuclear weapons, and Russia does, a nuclear bomb being detonated in the course of this war would be a false flag by whom, exactly?

I don’t think Russia is stupid enough to use tactical nukes in Ukraine. If it did so, it would indeed become an international pariah, and would be loudly condemned and would lose any support it may have — aside, perhaps, from Iran.
Nukes — even tactical nukes — are for existential use. And Ukraine, under any scenario, is not an existential threat to Russia.
The Russians are testing public reaction to their use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine.It means they’re considering it. Do you suppose any higher ups in our government are aware of that fact. Now is the time to be thinking about our response, not when it happens.
Ukraine gave us their Nukes in exchange for security guarantees.
