Bull sh*t. I've been through probably a dozen earthquakes and if you're near the epicenter of a shallow quake, It's going to get your attention real fast. In one quake, in the 4.5 to 5.0 range, I was within 5 miles of the epicenter and I thought we were under attack. No joke.
