Because we live in an unserious society where the flag is flown at half mast more often than not now for some reason or another. It’s lost all meaning. Might as well leave it half mast forever.

Were US flags at half mast when other UK kings or queens died? I doubt it. This is the first time I've ever seen US flags flown at half-mast for a foreigner.
