MOSCOW, September 13. /TASS/. Kiev will not receive any "security guarantees", in particular, because its draft is essentially a "prologue" to World War III, the deputy head of Russia’s Security Council Dmitry Medvedev believes.
"The Kiev camarilla has given birth to a project of 'security guarantees', which are essentially a prologue to a third world war. Of course, no one will provide any 'guarantees' to the Ukrainian Nazis," he wrote on his Telegram channel on Tuesday.
He believes that the agreement proposed by Kiev is tantamount to "applying Article 5 of the North Atlantic Pact to Ukraine." This article refers to collective defense as a principle central to NATO's founding treaty. Collective defense means that an attack on one of the alliance’s members shall be considered as an attack on all members.

So it looks like this war is going to be going on for awhile....
F them they’ve been threatening WW3 for the last year.
The only guarantee is steel.
Let more Russians die in Ukraine.
“The Kiev camarilla has given birth to a project of ‘security guarantees’, which are essentially a prologue to a third world war.”
This statement is itself an admission that Russia would be planning to continue to try and invade and conquer Ukraine even if they make a ceasefire. So there’s really no benefit to Ukraine to negotiating at all.
Not really sure there is any way around that for Ukraine except to keep fighting until they either lose, or kill enough Russians to change the mind of the government. Doesn't seem like there's any middle ground.
True, but that also works in Ukraine’s favor.
They are in an existential battle that is not of their choosing, and where there is no possibility of escape. So they have every reason to fight and no reason to compromise.
Russia, on the other hand, has little to gain from this “special military operation”, and their losses mount by the day. And there is nothing but Putin’s pride keeping them in the fight. It’s not even a matter of national pride really, since they could just say this was “Putin’s folly” and blame him, as he was 100% in control. At some point, the results of such a cost-benefit analysis will become obvious to the more sober minds in Russia, if there are any.
The NAZI thing is played out. At some point the Russian people (the educated ones, not the outhouse ones) are going to realize Zelesky isn’t Adolf Hitler.
Quagmires give one time to reevaluate their life choices, and you make vows to make better ones.

Right when our stupid lefties here realize that Trump isn’t Hitler.
Good luck with that last part.
I have high confidence a at some point Putin will say he was misled and throw his Generals under the bus.
Putin has incredibly high approval with the Yeehaws (rural whites) out in the Sticks , so the Russian’s “European Vacation class” (Educated Elites) aren’t going to try to pin it on Putin (even though they know it was Putin).
We’ll know in the next few weeks if Putin personally doubles down, or looks for scapegoats. He knows if loses the Yeehaws, he is done. This war killed many Yeehaw kids, but The Poor’s (rural non whites & the whitish) did the majority of the dying.
There had been upheavals against Tsar Nicky since the loss to Japan in 1905, but he hung in there until 1917.
“Russia simply cannot tolerate the idea that it can’t invade its neighbors whenever it wishes. I guess they just think that’s their right. So it looks like this war is going to be going on for awhile....”
Yup.
I can’t disagree with anything you said in that post.
Well, blaming it on the generals works to appease the domestic population. But that will do nothing to appease the rest of the world. So unless they like being a hermit kingdom, I think they’ll hang Putin out to dry eventually.
“True, but that also works in Ukraine’s favor. They are in an existential battle that is not of their choosing, and where there is no possibility of escape. So they have every reason to fight and no reason to compromise.”
Yup. Russia is basically presenting Ukraine with two options, both fatal to Ukraine: Death and destruction; or unconditional surrender.
Ukraine’s answer should be: Death before dishonor! Or, as Winston Churchill said: “It is better to fight and die than to live as slaves.”
If Medvedev is mad about this, wait until his frozen assets are auctioned off to pay for all of the stuff that the Red Army broke in Ukraine.
It also won’t sit well with the Russian military, which I can see saying, “You sent us to war with the military you gave us.”
Or as Zelensky just said:
Do you still think that we are ‘one nation?’ Do you still think that you can scare us, break us, make us make concessions? You really did not understand anything? Don’t understand who we are? What are we for? What are we talking about?Read my lips: Without gas or without you? Without you. Without light or without you? Without you. Without water or without you? Without you. Without food or without you? Without you.
Cold, hunger, darkness and thirst are not as scary and deadly for us as your ‘friendship and brotherhood. But history will put everything in its place. And we will be with gas, light, water and food … and WITHOUT you!
If Putin sends the generals to the Hague with the evidence to convict, gives away some oil and makes nice, he can go out in public, again.
People have very short memories... Besides, His Generals BETRAYED HIM! “I trusted them” he’ll say. Obama blamed others for 8+ years and he’s still universally loved, for some reason. The buck stopping here, isn’t a thing anymore.
He was never going to go to Ukraine again, after about March 20th. That ship sailed, but if he gives them gas, other countries will welcome him. They’ll just say his only mistake was trusting too much.
Oh and look. There are no more NAZIs in Ukraine... just a couple NAZI sympathisers, like Soros.
