then we’d see articles about the atrocities that have been going down in Sri Lanka
and not have the ONLY mention of the country be in conjunction with an agenda

That does not mean that this story is not newsworthy by comparison. But I’ll grant you that, while Ukraine has been happening, a whole bunch of awful stuff has gone on elsewhere that gets ignored (Nigeria, Nicaragua, etc). We have eurocentric news.
