Having worked in a big city ER for years...and having has an 18 year old niece killed by a drunk driver...I could support a device like that on a *voluntary* basis. The incentive, perhaps, could be big discounts on insurance.

Too late, already passed through congress and signed into law by Biden. It’s infrastructure you know.

I’m OK with this, in return for having ALL those in elected office or a federal job, at any level, punching in and punching out each and every day (posted online so we can all see it), and being recorded (audio and video) every hour they are supposed to be working. Also, random drug and alcohol tests of all federal employees, with automatic dismissal and loss of any claim on a pension for any abnormal test that is confirmed. Further, mandatory prison time and forfeiture of 80% of wealth for any insider trading by public office holders.

It was repealed VERY quickly when the congress-critters were inconvenienced by it.

But like every other law they pass they will exempt themselves from it. They will require every manufacturer to have an override fingerprint reader that connects to a central database with their fingerprints on it

Nope. The devices do malfunction. Also you can be sure there will be a selection of vendors which will not be determined by how convenient and customer friendly they are.

I detest auto stop/start on my vehicles. So I installed Autostop Eliminator. Some company will offer a workaround to this idiotic transgression, should it come to pass.

Me either.

Glad both my vehicles are 1070’s models.

Unable to do that for the seat belt scheme, won’t work for this.
I want video of some sinator yelling at their car, “Don’t you know WHO I AM!”

Are horse and buggies still legal where you are?

So are cars that drive themselves exempt, or only electric ones.

I am extremely concerned cause they keep spiking the gasoline cars with more and more alcohol.

So if this forced system fails. Can you sue for false imprisonment, since your ability to leave is restricted

Agreed. A texting detector would be awesome. I would rather be on the road with drunks than with texting fools.

4th amendment. Non-starter.

Sure. Joe and them would never fool with the Constitution.

Safety?

How about deportation for any illegal alien caught driving, sober or drunk?

I don’t think I’ve ever driven with more than two beers or a glass of wine in me, yet this is another reason that I hope my current vehicles last me the rest of my life.

Although I would support an NTSB plan to have vehicles check to see if drivers and passengers are legally in the country.

Can’t find any articles with the name of the driver, only the name of the driver killed in the other vehicle. The drunk was 18, coming from a party.
