Govern, ent is in the business of creating problems, then pretending to solve them with measures that make the original problem they created far worse. Rinse and repeat.

At any given time about 34% to 36% of our county jail will have bonafide mentally ill inmates. By law the county is responsible for their health needs while in there. Typically they'll get the meds and treatment they're supposed to be getting on their own, and they'll settle into being model citizens. But when they get out, won't take their meds, keep appointments, ultimately get picked back up and the process starts all over again. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Well if they did “cut them in half” they would naturally have twice as many.

The chicoms ended a lot of their drug problems by executing addicts. Here we pamper them. Give them free needles. Haul them to the ER if they OD. Force sick people who pay insurance premiums and others who just pay their bills to eat the cost of the addicts. So which approach is going to reduce the number of addicts? No addicts - no dealers- no cartels- no fentanyl deaths. Makes you think.

“The changes in city leadership slowed the effort.” Yup. Just as changes in leadership prevented a solution to the homeless problem in SF, so, too, changes in US leadership prevented a solution to the terrorist problem in Afghanistan. Thankfully, the permanent leadership of the Lord allows the solutions to every problem.

$100 million in pledged private expenditures from a nonprofit aiming for the same five-year reduction, complementing the city’s more than $250 million annual homelessness budget.

Isn't it funny how the more money the government makes available to "combat homelessness", the more "homeless" appear to get that money?

But then the government’s Professional Homeless professors and consultants and politicians would not have than 481,000.00 per person budget to hire more professors and Homeless professional consultants!
