I’m sure the GOP has done extensive polling over the summer and determined that the economy and crime are the two biggest issues for voters in November. About 90% of the campaign ads I’ve seen for Republican candidates here in my state are filled with video footage of violent crimes … and a narrative that says: “Democrats like So-and-So want to keep these criminals out of jail.”

They are extremely effective ads. I agree with Gaetz on this, but his position is going to be a total loser in swing states and House districts.

The solution is for Republican leadership to support a national campaign to support LOCAL politicians who support more LOCAL funding of police.
