I once worked an office that had bats in telephone switch closet.

In Reno we were in a one story office park with overhangs
over the sidewalks along the sides of the buildings.
Bats used to hang there (literally).

That was their 'pre-insect-hunting' gathering place
before they headed out over the lake to hunt bugs.
They would start to gather there around dusk.

Sometimes there would be upwards of a hundred bats over the lake.
