Nord Stream pipelines hit by suspicious leaks in possible sabotage; Russia says it has ‘a right’ to use nuclear weapons

Tuesday is the final day of voting in a series of referendums on joining Russia. The votes, widely seen as rigged and illegitimate, are likely to pave the way for Russia to announce it has annexed more of Ukraine by the end of the week, analysts say.

The votes have been taking place in two pro-Russian, self-proclaimed “republics” in the eastern regions of Donetsk and Luhansk and southern occupied regions of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson.

There have been multiple reports of votes being staged and coercion and aggression being used to force people living in Russian-occupied areas of Ukraine to vote in favor of joining Russia.

Electoral officials have gone door to door with portable ballot boxes from last Friday until yesterday. Polling stations will only open today, Tuesday, with officials citing security reasons.

In other news, Russia has again insisted it has a “right” to use nuclear weapons if its territory is threatened, and several suspicious leaks have hit the Nord Stream pipelines, with experts not ruling out sabotage.

Russia has quickly descended into "Reich" status under Comrade Putin.

The West deliberately provoked this war and continue to do so. The West has sabotaged peace efforts and will not stop until the world is engulfed in war and nukes fly. Insane.

Update, with a big FWIW...

Three gas pipeline leaks in vicinity of Bornholm – Danish PM suspects sabotage Nord Stream 1, which carries energy from Russia to Germany, sustained two leakages today, while a sister line that follows the same route incurred one yesterday

You are insane. No, the Ukrainians are no choir boys, but Putin took Crimea and the West did nothing. Russia has been arming the separatists in the Donbas area for years and the West did nothing.

Then Putin rolls tanks into Ukraine and tries to surround Kyiv, and finally the West does something to help Ukraine fight back.

Yeah, the West provoked this war...

Russia might consider this an act of war. The United States would if the pipeline were on the other foot.

Winning or losing this war serves no purpose for the United States. The war is a slow drain and promotes fear and chaos here in the U.S. Although out of chaos comes opportunity for the Biden administration. This hastens the “great reset” for the United States.

I stand by my comments. This war could have been avoided. A lot of people want this proxy war.

“The votes have been taking place in two pro-Russian, self-proclaimed “republics” “

Pro-Russian?
So they voted to join Russia?
And this is a problem why, exactly . . .?

Not our war.

I don’t even try to follow this stuff because I think there is tremendous propaganda on all sides.

But I will ask: Who would be the likely saboteur of the pipeline? I can think of several candidates, but I don’t know who is most likely.

As par, the propaganda brigade has come on shift parroting today’s narratives and talking points, much like how the vast majority of the propaganda ridden media works.

Found a very informative podcast vid that beautifully and perfectly illustrates it:

And I stand by mine. Nothing happened until Russian tanks crossed the border into Ukraine. Period.

Well the United States and Ukraine are the countries most likely to benefit. We don't want the Russians selling the Germans gas.

Correct - all Russia had to do was stay within its own borders

but that didn't happen, they illegally invaded a sovereign nation on Feb. 23rd and started this stupid war

Russia is clearly to blame here

Kind of what I figured.

So, if it’s a really terrible winter, and if a lot of Germans freeze to death, it’s kind of our fault. Because, you know, we’re the Good Guys.

This war could have been avoided.

How? What else would have made Ukraine cede sovereignty and territory to Russia?

That’s what Russia demanded.

Nope, being the largest country already wasn't enough for Putin, he just had to have that extra 0.01% additional land

and now Russia will be paying for that meagre land grab for years
