....former Air Force aircraft maintainer....have to laugh....years and years ago I attended a seminar put on by a retired Navy aviator...many hours in A-4s, A-6s, and the like....he had to laugh...in those days, the Navy apparently had “Preserve and Repair” program for its aircraft; he jokingly said it really stood for only “Paint and Return”....

The C-130H is just one model of the C-130 that stretches back over 60 years. It’s actually one of the older models still in service. It’s being replaced by the C-130J model that has more cargo capacity and improved engines.

I’ve flown on the older models and the -J. The old ones were good but the -J is like a whole different aircraft. It’s maybe a little past time to replace the older birds.

In manufacturing its known as black “canodize”. Used in a procedure known as “locate on assembly, file to fit, & paint to match”! Shorthand for “figure it out yourself”

Even taking the angle into account, that photo appears to have been manipulated at some point.

So it sounds like the list I found is indeed somewhat suspect as the Lockheed R6V Constitution is not and was not really ever in service.

But the point I was making by posting the list is that we have many alternative cargo planes to the C-130H. Thus I wouldn’t expect it to impact deliveries to Ukraine at all.

Right?

This is a scam to convert them to C-130EV’s.

That’s what I thought. It appeared the C-130 was pregnant.

Exactly, this is what maintenance s supposed to do. Better now than having the NTSB find it at a crash site and have it show up on a episode of Air Disasters.

All these decades and they’re still popping them out of the factory. Can’t wait for the solar powered S model.

Just stopped by to let everyone know the C-130 is the finest aircraft ever built.

That is all...

The most feared and respected aircraft in history up to the mid 90s...and the absolute DEADLIEST...was the EC-130Q.

Nothing else even came close.

I don’t think that C-133’s are in service anymore.
