Searching for bodies with the Ukrainian captain collecting Russian corpses
The Washington Post ^ | October 1, 2022 | Isabelle Khurshudyan

When there’s a Russian corpse that needs collecting, Capt. Anton gets the call. Sometimes, he’ll receive a text with coordinates of where the body is located. Other times, people offer to lead him to the site.

After single-handedly bagging more than 250 dead enemy soldiers, Anton has created something of a reputation in Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkiv region. Rather than spending time and energy searching for corpses, he can now work off referrals.

Last weekend, he followed a car of soldiers down a dirt road in Tsyrkuny, a village outside of Kharkiv. At the edge of a field was a decayed body still in its military uniform. Anton hunched over it, snapping on gloves and sliding his hands into all of the dead soldier’s pockets, looking for the man’s documents. He carefully ran his fingers up and down the body before abruptly stopping at the boot.

“Everyone back away,” Anton warned.

Four of the corpses he’s recovered have been booby-trapped with explosives. This was a false alarm. He took off his gloves and put on a new pair.

Ukraine has achieved an amazing string of victories since March, resulting in the loss of four provinces.

This is a charity, to pick up the dead for decent burial and identification. That way their families will know their fate and not be left hanging for years with an “MIA”.

Hardly a difference in the DNA of both sides. If it wasn’t for the uniform, they wouldn’t know who was who.

Those Ukrainians, they are so damn charitable. They wouldn’t take a dime from US citizens or launder any money, set up bioweapon labs, and traffic humans at the behest of corrupt politicians around the world. They would never collude with RATs and RINOs to set up a President for impeachment either. /s

Such saints.

The most violent wars in history are those fought against one’s own kind.

DNA testing of enemy Russian soldiers...USA-paid for no doubt...while hundreds, maybe thousands of rape kits in the USA go undone.

This is a sour response to a virtuous and selfless act. And very unpleasant (have you handled dead bodies? I have.). And, note, a dangerous one, see the reference to boobytraps.

The Ukes could just be dumping them into pits like anonymous garbage.

I have see RT posted. And Rybar.

Information is information.

Indeed, in my time here - almost 20 years - The NYT, Wapo, CNN, etc have regularly been posted. Because they are about points of interest or controversy, a look at anything from simple data to the POV of the other side.

The big deal about conservative media and conservatives in general is that we are the people who hear all sides, we can face reality unfiltered, we have no neurotic need for bubbles and safe spaces. We are ready to engage in argument and debate, in public on the field of honor. Our opponents have taken to hiding and avoid openly facing us. This was a frequent theme of Rush Limbaugh btw.to

We must not be cringing cowards afraid of a media logo.

Maybe it’s information and maybe it’s disinformation and propaganda.

Doesn’t matter if it’s RT or CNN. If it reads like propaganda, it probably is.

All nations media go on disinformation warfare steroids during war. Unless if the topic is reported by both sides, it’s probably best to take everything with a grain of salt.

Putin can declare he is annexing Mars, but that doesn’t make it so.

Since March the Russian invaders have been going backwards. Retreat after retreat, publicly acknowledged by their side after being falsely blasted as propaganda by gullible sycophants on this site, and still Russophiles on this site are trying to convince themselves and others that this hasn’t been an absolute disaster for the Russians.

Look at the map since March, you dolt!

I thought there were so many Russian dead soldiers you could pave all of remaining ukraine with them??

Now they have to search? And he only found 250?

Seems incongruent.
