CPAC backpedals on pro-Russia tweet as some U.S. conservatives back Putin
Washington Post ^ | 10/1/2022 | Isaac Arnsdorf

The Conservative Political Action Conference on Friday tweeted — and then hours later deleted — a message that called on Democrats to “end the gift-giving to Ukraine” while featuring a fluttering Russian flag. The tweet also referred to “Ukraine-occupied territories,” appearing to legitimize Russian President Vladimir Putin’s claims to annex provinces based on a referendum that the U.S. and allies view as illegal.

CPAC chairman Matt Schlapp on Saturday said the tweet did not clear the normal approval process because he was traveling for a conference in Australia. “Due to my travel into a distant time zone it was never approved per usual,” he said in a text message.

Main reason I like this story is someone actually wrote "gift-giving" instead of the infantile sounding "gifting" that is part of the nasty "verbing" plague on our language in recent years.

Fascinating that this CPAC guy will openly support the armed invasion of Ukraine and show the Russian flag. All these enemy agents are finally coming out of the woodwork after years as posing as "patriotic conservatives".

It's like discovering cockroaches in your home.

Absolutely. And GFYS should be GBMYS (Go Baby Make Your Self) and STFU should be STBMU (Shut the Baby Making Up). Not any kind of dissing (Disrespecting of Another?) on you, RWV, just a related observation of linguistic alternatives.

Professional Conservatives love war and love foreign aid, even if it’s deficit spending.

I’m glad to CPAC backwalk whatever their pro-Russia tweet was.

The failure of all conservatives to recognize the importance of helping Ukraine defend itself, has me just a little worried about how to vote.

Likewise I’m looking forward to Trump clarifying his stance on Ukraine. I agree with Trump that Russia would have never invaded had Trump still been in charge. But his calling for Peace Talks while Russia still occupied the majority of 4 territories plus Crimea, has me concerned about what he intended.

There is no doubt in my mind that conservatives are better for the economy, energy policy, military, other domestic policies, life and traditional values.

But if support for Ukraine was the only issue, I’d be concerned about electing conservatives.

I don’t know who coined the term but I always liked calling them “conservative inc”.

Nobody backs Putin. But many people don’t trust the CIA. Clearly we have a manufactured war. Clearly we are being lied to. And that is unacceptable no matter the outcome. This large game of chess, has many costs. Besides lives on both sides. There are billions of dollar being thrown away. There are lots of deals that have been shattered between countries. There are lots of American companies who have just left everything behind in Russia. This is like a large earthquake that changes the landscape of the earth afterwards. And the CIA alone knows how and why. I am specious.

Refusing to send $70 Billion of our tax dollars to a totally corrupt, sleazy, woke Ukraine regime doesn't mean supporting Putin or invasions.
Ukraine is not even in NATO. Ukraine is not our responsibility.

Perhaps we should first determine that there really is a war on in Ukraine...

As opposed to a mutually agreed upon noisy occupation for the purpose of scamming money from US taxpayers.

“New Poll: Americans want wealthy European Countries to step up in Ukraine, wary of American military involvement in the Conflict”
https://cv4a.org/news-media/new-poll-americans-want-wealthy-european-countries-to-step-up-provide-aid-to-ukraine-wary-of-direct-intervention-in-conflict/

The poll found Americans in large part disagree with the current Biden administration strategy for aiding Ukraine:

Only 15% of the American public support sending more military and financial aid to Ukraine than wealthy European countries, with almost twice as many people (34%) wanting to send less assistance.

54% of respondents said that the United States should only continue to provide aid to Ukraine if the Europeans are willing to match our support.

Around half of the respondents polled said the U.S. should provide the same level of support for Ukraine as wealthy European countries, not more.

Generally, Americans would like to see less American military involvement in the world overall:

57% of respondents oppose (strongly or somewhat) direct American military intervention in the war in Ukraine while only 14% percent support (strongly or somewhat).

42% of respondents would like to see less American military involvement abroad. Only 7% would support more engagement.

A plurality of respondents said Biden should make lowering or eliminating inflation his top priority (40%). Conversely, only 2% believe that ensuring a defeat of Russia in Ukraine should be the President’s main priority.

Notably, when compared to a similar poll conducted in July, American sentiment on the Russia-Ukraine war has remained largely unchanged – only about a quarter of the American public support directly involving the U.S. military in the Russia-Ukraine war, with more than twice as many people opposing.”

We have so far spent 0.02% of our GDP on the Ukraine war.

For that pocket change we have removed one of our major rivals as a threat for a generation.

Seems like a good deal to me!

I am and have been against this war.

I am super cynical of the West/US/EU/UK/NATO propaganda ridden media that just inundates FR daily.

And because it, and because I come at it from a Russian view point to counter it, I am a pro-Russian dipsh*t, stooge, etc., etc., etc.

I’d argue that we don’t know for certain there really is a hot war on.

Folks here continue to put the cart before the horse.

Absolutely- stop giving away our Treasury (printed) money needed to help the USA at home weather the idiocy of the foreign policy of JoeBama et cie (obamaumao and valjar’s portfolio of our money continues with derp state idiocy— Russia Russia— when they are doing the bidding of Xi Xi— the chicoms who are ripping off our wealth! daily, and keeping the russians in view for their commodity value to the losing chi-com economy!).

People do not understand that it is the uniparty- run by the chi-com teat suckers (McConnell, McCain’s pals, Romney-—etc, all expressed as well through the Cartel’s invasion across what should be a closed border— fentanyl invasion, disease invasion— all keeping the home front occupied with needless distractions)— the uniparty who attacks Conservatives as being Russia supporters. What idiocy. The Clintons sold US Uranium rights to Russians through a Canadian pal Giusti. You take that position of Russia Russia you continue the Clintoonian farce paid for by Hitlery, and ignore the reality of MAGA for AMERICANS. Our treasure, not the tradings of traitors. Keep in mind that Zelinskyy was installed by obamaumao and JoeBama and their Clowns In Action—to be their puppet to keep the money flow against the fake Russian threat. We were well managing the Russian threat until the Chi-Coms and JoeBama stepped in to fake win against Trump. It was the Chi-coms all along— and still is!

Attention span is limited to a political season of neo cons many of whom still “i told you so” right here on FR.
Self- aggrandizing fakes who put out chainmail for the Lincoln Brigade (oops, sorry Lincoln Project- always get them mixed up with the Commie bankers who invaded Spain).
