I thought if your on SS your disqualified for all the other Federal programs.
There are definite “tells” when an order is placed on the check lane belt what the method or methods of payment will be. Some of these ebt cards have thousands of dollars on them. Don’t act like there’s no abuse. There’s a black market in selling food stamps for cash. There’s even a poster warning shoppers not to do this at Publix.
That’s not the point being made. When you see ebt users buying high priced seafood and paying $80 for cartons of cigs and cash for their (non bargain) beer and wine again and again and again you recognize there’s abuse. It’s your tax dollars at work while you are struggling to make ends meet.
It also doesn’t help if they stink if weed in the grocery store pushing a cart full of kids. If I get a 2% to compete with 9% inflation while ebt users get over 12% who is the sucker? The worker or the parasite?
What is different about the USA today and years ago regarding drinking ?

The discussion on this exchange is centered around folks on food stamps purchasing premium items that a taxpayer in line behind them is unable to purchase.
The Bible states “if u do not work, you shall not eat”. Guess our Christian law makers missed that one!

Not anymore if you make under a certain amount, it depends on your gross household income. And your bills. And many states have assistance for rent and utility bills. Some utilities offer discounts themselves also.

Thank you... Because that is a fact. My kids all have great jobs in the medical field and after their house payment, car payments, utilities and health insurance they are still tight with being able to keep food in the fridge. What are they supposed to do to be “responsible”? Give up their kids? Give up their cars they need to keep and hold a job? Couple of them are even working two jobs.

Sure - and that will fix it for people who cannot drive all the way to some erstwhile soup kitchen, which relies on donations, a can only stand in line begging for a meal 3 times a day - nice, how humiliating just so some people can save a buck here and there, feeling good as they virtue signal, while their government spends trillions on unaccountable items - with much of the money going overseas to who knows who.
Fine plan for the virtue signally cold hearted. Glad I’m not near you where ever that is.

Have you any idea what you are talking about? Grocery stores do not have fresh seafood - they have rotting, loss leader, many days old seafood. Why is it rotting? Because you can smell it. Actual fresh seafood does not smell.
So again, Mr Virtue Signaler it should be a law that only people that are wealthy, well off, middle class can buy such ordinary foods. Everybody on SNAP can only buy rice beans and ramen, so you can feel holier than thou, right?
Just because there are some crooks and unscrupulous types, every one on SNAP is tarred with the same bush, right!
Sure, sooo compassionate you are - when I need to eat I’m going to go out in who-knows-what-weather, 3 times a day to eat, and pay to do it? Glad you can save a few bucks and feel good about it.
