This is the first I have ever heard about it.
I would have expected at least somebody like Rand Paul, Ted Cruz or Mike Lee to have been making some noise about it.
The IRS is getting smarter—and more desperate. A few years ago they were caught stuffing thousands of unprocessed tax returns into their service center drop ceiling because they couldn’t keep up. Now they destroy them—nothing left to process.
“I see you have some money. Give it to me.”
Maybe the thing to do is send the IRS via USPS a tracked package of black paper, print the delivery receipt, then claim the IRS destroyed your return if the IRS ever comes after you.
With the obvious two tiered system of injustice we now have it should be clear that the IRS is going to be used to repress Republicans. Lots of Republicans requires lots of tyrants to get them.
Deja-Vue!
I remember when several ATF workers did the same thing with NFA forms.
The miscreants were “Transferred to less stressful duties”.
No one was punished in any way.
The same result will be seen here.
Subcommittee on Taxation and IRS Oversight
Minority Members (8)
Thune, John (SD), Ranking Member
Grassley, Chuck (IA)
Cornyn, John (TX)
Burr, Richard (NC)
Portman, Rob (OH)
Toomey, Patrick J. (PA)
Sasse, Ben (NE)
Crapo, Mike (ID), Ex Officio
That list looks like for a RINO Convention.
You’ve been FReeping fewer than 10 years. Don’t you know that FReepers HATE Ted Cruz? “Lyin’ Ted” and such.
The swamp wants to bury us all.
They have software limitations, so they destroy 30,000,000 paper tax filings? In what universe does that make sense?
I’m aware that Ted is not favored by the majority here but I say, so what?
Not all of us conservatives think exactly alike. There are many winding roads that lead to the same destination.
How many years back?
2020, 2019, 2018 etc. What if you did not file say 2018, would the IRS know one way or another as records are destroyed.
Do they know what records were destroyed?
.-————
The IRS responded the 30 million destroyed returns were only 1 percent of the total information returns filed, and they were destroyed due to a software limitation and to make room for 2021 tax filing season documents.
The IRS also claims “[t]here were no negative taxpayer consequences as a result of this action,” and taxpayers will not be subject to penalties resulting from the IRS’s actions. Perhaps there were no negative consequences for those whose documents were destroyed, and maybe even some benefit if they underreported income.

No.
If you’ve filed, you have records you’ve filed. You also have treasury check info or checks to the irs through your bank.
National Sales Tax....everyone would contribute something.
Get rid of everything other tax.
“I’m aware that Ted is not favored by the majority here “
Other than having another cold beer I can’t get my Army buddies to agree 100% of the time. But generally we agree.
As far as Ted, he really has his moments. Got to support him on that.
Now Trump, I fully support him even though he likes to borrow until the verge of bankruptcy.
so question: if there are so many they can’t even process them, why are we being forced to file them?
