The Ukrainians are probably just as capable of this as the Russians. They all share a lot of horrible history.

They don't, but determined soldiers from that part of the world will act with conspicuous bravery and disregard for their own personal safety. One example from a few years ago was a Russian recon team member that called an airstrike in on his position as it was overrun by ISIS. There have been similar instances in the current war by Ukrainian fighters.
This may be an example of that, or just a remotely detonated weapon.
