As these companies depart, jobs for the middle class go with them. So middle class workers also leave. The one class that might vote in a way that would reverse the trend. Thus. these cities become like the third world, a small, rich ruling class, and a large, hopeless lower class.
Now consider that the hopeless, uneducated urban lower class will always be led to vote for the blandishments of the rulers, being unequipped to think for themselves. And that the lower class numbers are being grown with the addition of millions of “migrants” from equally stratified third world regions.
Need I go on?

Yep. And there is certainly a multiplier effect as well. Those middle class folks bought middle class things (cars, furniture, restaurant meals, etc.). Jobs in those industries will go as well.
I live in the rust belt. It was estimated that every steel mill job supported as many as five ancillary jobs. Well, the mills are gone now. And so are those ancillary jobs.
No disagreement from me. What you describe sounds right on the money and also the destruction of the American dream in these blue states of misery and poverty.
The upper class doesn’t have it so great either. They have to constantly be worried about being attacked, killed, or just robbed by any of the poverty stricken street drug filled lower class. Many who no longer think in a human way; more base animal than human.
Moral of the story is leftism ruins everything it touches and no one is immune.
