PayPal Did NOT Back Down, STILL Threatens $2,500 Fines for Promoting ‘Hate’ and ‘Intolerance’
PJ Media ^

The story was shocking: As PJM’s Rick Moran stated Saturday, “The financial services company PayPal announced a controversial policy to deduct up to $2,500 from the accounts of users who spread ‘misinformation.’” But as the news of this astonishing plan circulated far and wide, PayPal experienced a swift backlash in the form of a blizzard of account cancellations, and quickly backed down, claiming that the announcement went out “in error” and adding: “PayPal is not fining people for misinformation and this language was never intended to be inserted in our policy.” That’s terrific, or would be if it weren’t for the fact that PayPal’s current Acceptable Use Policy still threatens $2,500 fines per infraction for promoting “hate” and “intolerance” — language the Left regularly uses to characterize (and demonize) speech that is critical of its insane policies.

Eugene Volokh pointed out Sunday that PayPal’s Acceptable Use Policy, which was last updated on Sept. 20, 2021, warns the unfortunate PayPal user that “you must adhere to the terms of this Acceptable Use Policy,” or else: “Violation of this Acceptable Use Policy constitutes a violation of the PayPal User Agreement and may subject you to damages, including liquidated damages of $2,500.00 U.S. dollars per violation, which may be debited directly from your PayPal account(s) as outlined in the User Agreement (see ‘Restricted Activities and Holds’ section of the PayPal User Agreement).”

Someone pointed out recently that our elites don't criticize China because that's the system they want here. This is an early "Social Credit Score" trial run.

Exit PayPal to stop this or other companies will follow their lead.

I cancelled my pp account yesterday. Shortly thereafter, my credit card company called me re numerous unauthorized charges in New York and Louisiana. I'm in Oklahoma.

Connection? If you cancel that farce of an account (PP), monitor your credit card.

This needs to be investigated to see if anyone else is experiencing what you have. I’m thinking “mark of the beast” is not far away.

‘Social Credit’

That was the name of the Communist seat in the Parliament of New Zealand when I was a child ..

One seat of 84 ...

The area was in Auckland a liberal city even then ...

Now they have Jacinda for their PM ...

The camel galloped under the tent ...

Questions:

I’ve always thought of PayPal as a kind of online bank. I can make payments to people and businesses and PayPal in turn debits my bank credit line.

I’m not sure I understand how I can express what lefties call “hatred and intolerance” by doing this.

Is it because I could send money to one of the “intolerant“ groups? Or collect money for my own “intolerant“ group?

For example, if Samaritans Purse accepts my donation using PayPal, would I be fined $2500 under this new policy?

Am I missing something?

Sounds like if this is ever used, they would be opening to counter suits on what hate and intolerance is under due process.

If you don’t have $2,500 in your PayPal account, will they charged you credit card or debit your bank account?

How does a private operation “fine” anyone? Sounds like simple theft.

I would call and cancel any card that is associate with PP. Also if you ever gave them access to your bank account call your bank and have it locked out or close the account prior to cancelling PP.

Banks have also set this precedent as well. They have closed the bank accounts and refused to do business with groups and individuals based on their political views or spread of “misinformation.”
