At least 11 people were killed and 15 more wounded at a Russian military training ground on Saturday when two attackers opened fire on a group of volunteers who wished to fight in Ukraine, RIA news agency said.
The deadly incident is just the latest in a series of high-profile setbacks for Moscow's forces since the Feb. 24 invasion.
RIA, citing the defence ministry, said the two assailants had been shot dead after the attack in the southwestern Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine. It said they were nationals from a former Soviet republic but did not give any details.
"During a firearms training session with individuals who voluntarily expressed a desire to participate in the special military operation (against Ukraine), the terrorists opened fire with small arms on the personnel of the unit," RIA cited a defence ministry statement as saying.
"As a result of the shooting, 11 people were fatally wounded. Another 15 people with wounds of varying severity were taken to a medical facility," it said.

Russian reports there was an argument about religion between the mobilized troops at the shooting range and the Tajiks decided to shut up the hecklers with their AKs.
Diversity is Putin's strength?
How does that work? Tajikistan is an independent country, not part of Russia.
Now, now. Repeat after me. All cultures are equal. All cultures are equal. All cultures are equal...
Evidently they had volunteered to go fight for Russia.
Number of dead up to 22.
Diversity is Putin’s strength.
Putin would never admit it, but the Russian presence in Ukraine serves many globalist interests.
“How does that work? Tajikistan is an independent country, not part of Russia.”
Foreign volunteers? Ukraine has some foreign volunteers, so it’s easy to assume Russia does, as well.
But Tajikistan as a nation has not committed troops to this war.
Tajikistan is very poor and has a lot of guest workers in Russia. They’re rounded up and conscripted to fight in the Russian army.
It’s the kind of volunteering where someone puts a gun to your head and you volunteer to give him your money.
don’t forget to send blood, they love blood
Russia is pulling recruits from her muslim satellites. Tajikistan is only independent till (in their view) Russia decides it is not.
Russians have been using mercs for the longest time.
This isn’t surprising.
A shame this happened....really...

Russia is more “diverse” than most westerners think.
Not many honest studies on demographics have been done, but a good independent estimate of Moscow’s population stated that 25% is Islamic.
Dead and wounded were Russian “volunteers” from the Bryansk region.
I love a happy ending

I would disagree there. Ukraine is a backwater and distraction from globalist interests. Globalists want to do business with Putin’s Russia. They’ve bought his gas and built his army. Globalists want to nuke up Iran and lift those sanctions so Boeing can sell more airplanes to the mullahs. They are partnering with Putin to do just that. But all that stuff is on hold now because of Ukraine and Putin’s delusions of empire.
Kind of like Fort Hood massacre. Bottom line, don’t trust ragheads in your army.
what an awful way to die
not that dying in war is any better of course, but at least you could say you knew what to expect there and you (maybe) had some weapons to defend yourself ...
but being ambushed like this in training is brutal ... for their families too ...
