I used to work a block away from there.
I’ve called South Carolina home for more than a decade now, but the place I grew up in is gone. I can visit an empty shell that depresses me, but I can never really go back to where I grew up. And it hurts deep inside that there’s nothing left to go back to. It doesn’t exist anymore and I miss it. It’s like being from nowhere.
