I’ll add, he has a great point. I remember the 1980s. It was fun. America was a much healthier and much happier country back then.

We actually had a GASP! sense of humor. Yes, especially if it was rude, crude and vulgar. Remember Sam Kinison? It was funny! You could still make jokes about various groups. We knew not to take it seriously and everybody could laugh at themselves and at everybody else without going around desperately seeking to claim they were “offended” and were a “victim”. They’d have just been told they needed to toughen up and develop a sense of humor if they tried that back then.

Most institutions operated on the basis of merit.

The military was not weak.

We did not get involved in constant foreign wars.

We had a much more unified culture having not been hit by gigantic waves of both legal and illegal immigration. In fact, if you wanted to immigrate to America, you generally had to show you would not be a burden on the taxpayers.

Almost everybody expressed full throated support for free speech.

PC Revisionism had not yet taken hold of history departments.

It was pre political correctness, pre Gaia Worship, pre Wokeism, pre transgender ideology.

Hell, we even had real football back then. The pussification rules did not come in until much later and hard hits were something to be celebrated. They were a part of the game.

I want it all back.

I just now found out that I’m supposed to identify as a “Gen X-er”. No wonder I’m smarter than these media addicted fools that create such terms.

“. The boomers, of which I am one, wrecked everything. I don’t know what my generation was called (1930-1945) but I can tell you how boomers were spoiled by my generation. During the Depression and WWII (’29-’45) we had very little food, many things were rationed and then many things were not available due to the war. Many of my generation vowed that because we were denied so much during that time that we would NEVER let our kids go without whatever they wanted...hence spoiling them. I am 87.

I am so tired of all the blame the Boomers for everything crap on FR. Who does this guy think was making this country he misses so much from the late 70’, 80’s, and 90’s work? It was Boomers who entered the work force in the late 60’s and started retiring in the last decade. It was the boomers who elected Reagan, built the Internet, invented the personal PC, Cellphone, iPad/tablet computer and the software to run them, fought through the deindustrializing he talks about and had to deal with the rise of AA and diversity seminars (i.e, get Whitey classes). The same people who had to listen to their children, the Xers, trash them daily while happily eating the food their parents paid for, living in the house their parents paid for and probably driving the car their parents bought them. And what did Boomers get back in return? A hey guys would you hurry up and die. The world will be a better place once you’re gone. A bunch of ingrates only out done by their younger siblings, the Millennials in terms of their self-absorption, self-righteousness, hatred for their parents and bitching.

I’m glad this guy and his friends are finally growing up. Go ahead and pat yourself in the back. I’ve been waiting a long time to see it. Had almost lost hope in your generation.

Reminds me of an interesting conversation I had with my daughter recently after a contentious meeting with a coworker, “Talk about a self-righteous asshole. Now I understand what I must have been like all these years growing up. I’m surprised I’m still alive. How did you put up with me?”

A poll of 5th graders at the local school all say that Joey Biden is a punk and if he came to their school yard, they’d beat his sorry @$$ and throw him in the septic tank. Duh.....

Born in January, 1965, so I’m one of the very first gen xers. Been a republican since 1992 when I discovered Rush. We grew up before the computer age, but were still young enough (in our early twenties) when they came about to take advantage of them and grow with the internet age. Knowing the people in my age group, I don’t find this surprising.

The boomers, of which I am one, wrecked everything, and this current group of ruling fossils and ghouls is largely boomers.

As a CONSERVATIVE BOOMER since my grad school daze, I'm very proud of my beliefs and knowing ALL CONSERVATIVE BOOMERS did NOT cause the problems.

So to be accurate with your stereotyping, please focus your comments toward LEFTWING BOOMERS.

Even though thousands of items became scarce during the war,
only those most critical to the war effort were rationed. Key
goods such as sugar, tires, gasoline, meat, coffee, butter, canned
goods and shoes came under rationing regulations. Some important
items escaped rationing, including fresh fruit and vegetables.
