Republican Lisa Murkowski Pledges to Vote for Alaska House Democrat over Sarah Palin

Twenty-one-year incumbent Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) has said she will vote for Democrat House candidate Rep. Mary Peltola (D-AK) over Republican challenger former Gov. Sarah Palin.

“Yeah, I am,” Murkowski responded Friday when asked by the Anchorage Daily News if she would vote for the Democrat.

Alaska uses the ranked choice voting system, which ultimately affords Democrat voters the opportunity to vote for Murkowski on the second and third ballots. Murkowski’s decision to vote for a Democrat is likely intended to attract more votes down-ballot to ultimately defeat Trump-endorsed Senate Republican candidate Kelly Tshibaka, who is leading in the polls by a slim margin.

If there are that many Republican senators, I wonder who Angus King will align with?

Don’t know.

I go with the notion the GOP gains three (Arizona, Georgia, Nevada) and holds all seats they hold now.

Beyond that I see an uphill climb but you never know it could be there in New Hampshire.

Northern states are more vulnerable to the economic malaise.

Any candidate that calls for the election of an opposing party over the party’s candidate should be removed immediately from the party.

Not even for the other Republican running.

She is really going all out to appeal to “her base” or at least her secondary base to get those second choice votes.

54 or more Republicans in the US Senate after November 8th would facilitate this along with McConnell’s removal.

McConnell would only need 28 votes in that scenario to maintain his position. Majority leader is a caucus-only vote - not like the House where the whole House votes for Speaker.

Why would the GOP caucus expel Murkowski and dethrone McConnell, when most of them agree with both?
