The idea is that he did not have to climb through the broken glass. He could have smashed the glass, reached in through the window and opened the door and closed it behind him. Who can say why hours later the other door was opened?

Also, we can't see what's on the floor inside. Safety glass doesn't break easily. If it's a break-in, safety glass may leave shards on the outside as well as on the inside. We don't yet know what happened, and we may not ever really know.
