I know not the exact reason, this article makes some valid theories. One I liked is many women are physically weak and or abandoned either alone or with dependent children. They want security as he said and see the nannny state as offering it.
Whatever the cause I hate to say womens suffrage has proven to generally be a dagger to conservatism and our traditional republic. In my own family counting out to cousins, I’d guess the feminine liberals outweigh the fem conservatives about 2-1 while I’d guess men are about 1.5 : 1 cons to Libs. Oddly enough some of the most conservative are women just damned few of them, most of the very liberal are also women but more common. Where I worked I’d guess the ratios were about the same.

I have noticed a class element in women’s attitudes about politics.
Wealthy “spoiled” women and higher end white collar women tend to be very liberal while “blue collar” working women are more likely to be conservative. The poorest women (dependent on state largesse) are also very liberal.
One profession where women seem to be all over the place in their politics is nursing. I have seen very liberal and very conservative nurses working side by side.
