Basically full to the brim, and the weather remains warmer than usual so far.

November 1st was the target date for storage filling, so this is the final result of the effort. Europe as a whole has also exceeded their 1 November goals for filling storage ahead of Winter.

The cutoffs of Russian supply did not materially effect the ability of Europe to fill their storage ahead of Winter, but did increase the cost several-fold.

Never mind how much more it is costing businesses and citizens and the devastating impact that is having Germany’s economy. As long as Russia is being harmed, German citizens are expected to suck it up.

Filled the tanks on a Citation III on a cold night in November. Our morning departure was delayed. In the warm sun on the black tarmac the wing vents were pouring Jet A on the ground like a garden hose. I had to call a fuel truck to unload 500 pounds.

I had the same with my 500 gallon LP tank at my house. The driver is not allowed to fill it beyond 80% due to expansion if it warms up. The blow-off valve will trigger, venting the gas into the atmosphere.

That kind of sounds familiar. I know I’ve heard that somewhere before.

Russia has suffered fires or possibly sabotage that they have variously blamed on Ukraine, dissidents, and political enemies. These have damaged the electrical grid, storage tanks, warehouses and possibly other structures. Russia has allegedly sabotaged stored ammunition in former Warsaw Pact nations to prevent it from going to Ukraine. I was wondering if Russia might sabotage Europe’s gas, which is wide open and easily accessible. They could also sabotage the pipelines bringing gas from Norway which would have a huge effect as it represents some forty percent of Europe’s need. From Russia’s perspective they aren’t fighting Ukraine, but NATO.

So they’re not really very upset about US, the apples, and Brit’s blowing up Nordstream 2?

My understanding is that these storage locations are not pressurized, so only so much gas can be extracted. They are mostly used for leveling out variations in the availability of gas piped in on a regular basis.

After extracting some gas, it will be harder and harder to extract more, and might become impossible to utilize even a majority of the gas.

Meanwhile, the US is suffering from a shortage of natural gas Pipelines.

Record amounts of US Gas will have to be flared because it is stuck in West Texas.

Thanks Democrats!

The Germans were wise to act on that advance knowledge and fill them overfull.

Now if they can just avoid the Karma of the "mysterious explosions" of some Gas Pipelines, they might heat the Reichstag a couple more months.

Filling storage during the summer months was no big challenge. The challenge will come when the winter weather sets in and they need to rely almost entirely on storage, with little pipeline supply coming in. It will go out a lot faster than it went in.

And big storage farms of natural gas. Sounds like a nice plump target for sabotage. I hope they’re guarding it well!

Yes, but don’t you see? This is all part of Putin’s clever plan.

“I was wondering if Russia might sabotage Europe’s gas”

I think that is likely (covertly).

Russians have been arrested in Norway this Autumn for flying drones around North Sea platforms, and Norway just put its Armed Forces on a significantly higher Operational status, as of 1 November.

No hard feelings about Freeport LNG Terminal either.

FYI, the actual final totals are being reported for the effort to fill European natural gas storage ahead of Winter (1 November was the target date).

Germany came in a strong 98.91 per cent full (as of 31 October). They could hit 100% this week.
